The battle between Michael and Lucifer seems inevitable in Supernatural and will probably occur near or at the end of Season 5. This battle is spoke of in Revelations, "and there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels" (Morris, pg 223). The dragon here refers to Lucifer and his army. In Supernatural the battle is to be fought on earth compared to Revelations war occurring in heaven. Lucifer still had access to heaven in Revelations and is a reason why the battle occurred there. It was decided by God that Michael and Lucifer were to battle in heaven. Michael was the victor and when the Devil was defeated, "he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him" (Morris, pg. 225). Finally, after God being so patient with Lucifer, He finally cast the Devil out of heaven for good. The battle between Michael and Lucifer has yet to occur in Supernatural, but from Revelations, ideas can be drawn to the conclusion of the season.

Eventually in Supernatural, Michael and Lucifer will be allowed to possess their rightful hosts and there will be one final battle between the brothers. From the lore, Dean should win the fight over Sam which will again cast Lucifer down. In Revelations, Lucifer was cast from heaven down to earth. However, he is already on earth, therefore, after defeat, Lucifer will be sent back to hell. After the battle the spirits will leave their hosts. It can be predicted that somehow, Dean and Sam's bodies will sustain injuries from the battle but will ultimately be fine in the end.
