Supernatural: The Battle Between Heaven and Hell
Season 4
Season 4 begins with Dean awaking in a grave. He was rescued by the angel Castiel, by orders of God. It is revealed that Lilith is now attempting to break 66 seals set in place to try and release Lucifer on earth. Dean was resurrected to help Sam stop Lilith. During the season we learn that Dean was dead for four months and that he was tortured for what seemed like 30 years and was always asked at the end of the day if he wanted to become a torturer. He said no for 30 years but finally gave in. For the next while (said to seem like 10 years), Dean tortured souls in hell. This was said to be the first seal. The season continues with the boys stopping some seals but failing to stop others. Finally, in the season finale, Sam confronts Lilith and kills her. This is the final seal that needed to be broken in order to release Lucifer. Sam and Dean are taken away from where Lucifer rises by Castiel and they prepare to try and kill the newly awoken devil in Season 5.
